Unless you have a lot of space in which to display your ceramic treasures, you will find it more convenient to collect the smaller pieces. Many of these are particularly charming and can be shown to good advantage even in a small apartment. Most collectors usually confine their interest, to one kind of design, so that each piece is related to every other piece and the group constitutes a coherent whole. Since the ceramics available include representations of practically every conceivable subject, there is a wide choice open to you: domestic and wild animals, rustic groupings, children at play, religious themes, famous landmarks, busts of historic personages, and quaint, humorous concepts.
Choice pieces are best kept in glass-enclosed cabinets out of the way of dust, tiny fingers, and the general danger of breakage.
