Collecting What is probably the largest and finest collection of star portraits and scene stills in the world is held by Culver Pictures, Inc., 660 First Avenue, New York 16, New York. Culver's stills are leased to publishers for illustrative purposes. Unfortunately, they are not for sale. However, you will see reproductions of many of them, with credit to Culver, in your Sunday newspapers, or in magazines and books.

Another large collection of old and current movie photographs belongs to Irving Klaw, 212 East Fourteenth Street, New York 3, New York. Klaw publishes Movie Star News, an annual catalogue of portraits and scene stills, with their prices. The catalogue, which costs 25 cents a copy plus postage, is an absolute must for all collectors of motion picture stills. Even if you are not a collector, you will enjoy a journey back to the "good old days" as you thumb through its pages. Occasional supplements to the annual catalogue are issued from time to time.

Klaw is quite reasonable, considering the rarity of many of his items. For example, scenes from films made as far back as 1918 cost 60 cents each on orders of three, 75 cents for orders of one or two, and 50 cents each on orders of ten or more. These are the most expensive items in the catalogue; other stills cost considerably less. Postage is added to the above prices.
