Butterfly-Bush (Buddleia). Lavender, maroon, or white steeples of bloom. Borax method.
Calendula. Orange or yellow. Store in box.
Calliopsis (C. tinctoria). Store seed heads in box.
Candytuft (Iberis affinis). Annual. White, pink, and lavender. Borax method.
Canterbury Bells (Campanula medium). Purple, pink and white flowers. Borax method.
Cape-Marigold (Dimorphotheca). White, purple, yellow, orange daisies. Borax or upside-down method. If upside-down method is used, cut off petals, leaving only a small amount of color around center.
Carnation (Dianthus Caryophyllus). Pink, red, white, variegated. For drying, I like the dark pink Virginia Supreme, lighter pink Peter Fisher, and variegated Linda. Invert flowers and cover with borax, or shear off most of the petals, leaving only a little color down in the pale green calyx. This will now appear to be some unusual flower. Invert and cover with borax to spread the calyx so that when dried it will look like a Canterbury bell. A calyx dried by the simple upside-down method without borax does not flare. Stuff it with cotton to preserve a different form. When it is dry, remove cotton.
Castor Bean (Ricinus communis). Green or red foliage. Large leaves of tropical effect. Seed pods and stalks, gathered green, turn a lovely slate blue. Upside-down method.
