Crafts In addition to working drawings in books such as General Woodworking, by C. H. Groneman, published in 1959 by McGraw-Hill, you will find working drawings, with instructions, in many hobby shops. These drawings not only tell you how to proceed but also explain some sound short cuts that can get your work out of the cellar and into the living-room much faster without sacrificing its quality.

If you have any skill as an artist, you can add to the attractiveness of your pieces by painting designs on some of them with oil paints. Good oil paints, available in any artists' supply shop and in some hardware stores, will hold their color and can be washed when necessary with soap and water.

If there is a youngster in your family, you can get a real thrill out of building toys for him, copying designs from one of the books on the subject or creating your own ideas.

Furniture patterns are available from the Easi-Bild Pattern Company, Inc., Pleasantville, N.Y. The publisher will send you a list at your request. In addition, four series of Early American furniture designs, selling at 25 cents apiece, are available if you write to Stanley Tools, Home Workshop Department, New Britain, Connecticut.
