Electrical Projects An alternate method is to remove the base and reverse the two motor-brush connections (the white lead to rear of blender) in order to reverse the direction of the motor. Grasp the coupling with a wrench and operate the blender for an instant. This should turn the coupling off.

Disconnect all wires from the switch and the switch can be removed. Be sure to make a diagram or mark the connections showing how to reconnect the wires. Now loosen the four screws securing the motor to the housing.

Scrape away the caulking from around the screws. Remove the upper bearing and baffle, the armature, and field coil. The lower bearing is riveted to frame. If it is necessary to replace it, use a bolt, nut, and washer.

As each of the several speed buttons is depressed, a different field winding is switched in, speeding or slowing the motor. The particular configuration shown uses a seven-tap field winding to obtain six speeds.



To test the operation, start the blender at off then press each button in succession from 1 through 6 (or whatever the maximum speed is). You should be able to hear the motor increase in speed as each succeeding button is depressed. If
