Electrical Projects To disassemble the motor, remove the rear guard and slide the motor out. The rotor may remain in position, so care must be taken not to lose the fiber washers on the rotor shaft. These fiber washers allow for slight end play. If the fan has a vibrating or buzzing noise, it could be caused by a loose magnetic wedge. The loose magnetic wedge must be removed, flattened, and driven back into pljace. Check the worm gear on the rotor shaft for wear.

The gear case must be opened if there is a problem with oscillation. To do this, file or grind off the outer boss securing the lid to the gear case. Then gently pry up the lid and swing it to the side to expose the gears. Next, remove the retaining ring and the clutch disc. Note that the dog on the clutch disc locks into the secondary gear. Lift out the secondary gear, and lift out the worm and pinion. Remove the vertical shaft and crank. Note the spacer washers on the shaft for the secondary gear, and the fiber washer between the crank and gear case. Clean

the gears and gear case, and check for wear on the vertical shaft and crank.
