Electrical Projects Many appliances employ an induction motor which requires a starting capacitor. The capacitor is a nonpolarized electrolytic type with a capacitance between approximately 40 and 800 uF, depending upon the motor with which it is used. These capacitors are subject to dehydration (reduction in capacitance) and shorting.
