Hyproponics Strawberries are a popular hydroponic garden fruit crop. Runners are most suitable for starting in the troughs or beds in the soilless unit. They may either be forced for fruiting during the first season, or left in for three years, the best berries being then obtained in the second and third years. Much depends on the variety or type selected for growing. Care must be taken not to allow the plants to become waterlogged, nor should the leaves get saturated with nutrient solution or rot may set in.

Several other kinds of soft fruits can be grown in hydroponics. Very successful results have been secured with papayas or pawpaws, and pineapples which do well in greenhouses or conservatories. Grapes, also, thrive, given deep large pots.
