Hyproponics The demand for flowering and foliage plants for growing inside the home has increased greatly in recent years. Perhaps you may like to decorate halls and rooms, to flank doorways, brighten up windows or screen uninteresting views. Or do you just wish to live with beautiful flowers and refreshing greenery? Try to match the choice of plants as far as possible to the conditions in which you live and the place or position in which they will grow, making sure that they meet your needs and you like the types or styles.

Plants for inside the home are often classified as upright, bushy, squat, trailing or climbing in shape. Some of them live for years; many flower only for a season or two and then require replacing. Again, you may like coloured leaves or variegated and brightly tinted foliage. Fashions alter and some people want to be 'with it* in selecting novel and currently popular kinds. Of course, plants differ in their stamina—there are robust species and delicate species. Remember also that such details as the amount of light and sunshine available, the dryness or humidity of particular rooms and situations, the amount of space, together with the time you can spare to keep a check on your garden, are significant. Conditions can vary considerably in houses. Certain rooms may be shady and cool, others light but without any direct sunshine during part or whole of the day or lacking the advantage of good windows. Factors such as no heat in winter, old-fashioned gas fires, dampness, draughts, and a very dry atmosphere can affect plant growth markedly. Although household plants can tolerate quite a lot of adversity, the best results will be secured if you select types suited to your particular environment or try to make the conditions fit the basic needs of the ones you choose. In hydroponics, the cultural side of plant growth is well taken care of by the scientifically planned method of operation but it is still necessary to watch these other points.
