Once the hydroponic containers have been filled with aggregate and given their first watering with plain water, sowing or planting may commence. The growing medium should have been well dampened, being just as moist as a wet sponge that has been lightly wrung out. The drainage holes will be closed with the plugs that you have provided, after the initial aeration of the aggregate, as explained later. All will now be ready for the next step.
