In addition to the main items for preparing the simple growing unit, a few other things will be required for hydroponic home gardens. Most of these may be already available in the house. For instance a kitchen weighing scale or balance for measuring out nutrients; an old teaspoon; a hand fork for smoothing over the surface of the aggregate or moving seedlings and transplanting, as desired; a jug or preferably a small watering can fitted with a thin spout and rose or a hosepipe with a sprinkler attached for watering and applying the plant feeding solution. Further helpful accessories can include scissors or sharp knife for pruning and cutting, dark green twine and string for tying plants, bamboo canes for staking, a soft brush for dusting hairy-leaved ornamentals or pollinating cucumbers and tomatoes, and any similar useful equipment that may come in handy from time to time.
