Domesticated pets are generally healthier today and live longer than they did twenty or thirty years ago. This is because they have periodic physical examinations by a veterinarian. Do not experiment with your animal's diet; follow the advice of the vet. If, for any reason, the diet originally suggested does not seem to agree with your pet, tell your vet, and let him recommend whatever changes seem advisable.
If you are raising dogs for sale, you must give some consideration to the breed you select. Strange as it may seem, fashions in dogs (and cats, too) change from time to time. There will be a year in which there is an overwhelming demand for poodles; a year or two later, everybody will want boxers or beagles. Fortunately, each vogue seems to last a few years; if you get in early enough with the right breed, you will be able to cash in before a new style in dogs comes along.
There are three kinds of talking birds that are often kept as pets: mynah birds, parrots, and parakeets. Mynahs, which may cost anywhere from $50 up, are by far the best talkers. Their talk is distinct and sounds like a human voice; in fact, they actually do a remarkably good job of imitating the speech of particular persons. In other words, if you teach a mynah to say "good morning," he will sound like you when he says it; on the other hand, if your wife teaches him to say "hello," he will imitate her voice when he says it.
