Or, if you're shopping on your own, you'll recognize prospective purchases sooner.Here is a list of items often looked for when shopping for a house:

• Principle, interest and tax payments
• Layout of rooms
• Age of house, heating system, and other major elements
• Condition of the house and cost of necessary repairs
• Heating costs
• Expected maintenance costs
• Neighbourhood
• Proximity to quality schools and services
• Garages and secondary structures
Once you find a few houses that meet your basic requirements, you can inspect the best candidates, and start comparing them in detail. You'll find the final "to buy or not to buy?" decision much easier.
