Household Repairs Feathers off or damaged. Remove all feathers, whether damaged or not, and scrape off glue and any thread bindings. Select three feathers from a turkey wing or, if not available, from a large chicken wing. (Arrow feathers are also available from outstanding sporting-goods stores.) Be sure feathers come from the same side of the turkey's body or arrows won't fly straight. Split the feathers down the midrib and smooth the ribs on fine sandpaper. Trim feathers roughly to size and allow 1" of midrib to extend beyond either end. Arrange feathers at 120° angles around the arrow and glue midribs to the wood with Duco cement. Then wrap fine thread around the exposed midribs and coat with Duco cement.
