Household Repairs This is probably the one piece of mechanical equipment that people understand reasonably well. But unless you're a real mechanic, leave repairs to the so-called experts. However, if your car fails to start, check the following points before sending out an SOS:

Is battery dead? If lights don't go on, it probably is.

Are cables to battery broken? You can buy and easily install new ones yourself.

Are you out of gas?

Are the spark plugs and carburetor dry? If not, wipe off carefully with a rag.
