Household Repairs Seams split. With heavy cotton thread, sew leather together in same manner as sound seams: Insert needle under the edge and through leather on one side of seam. Then insert it under the edge and through the leather on the other side of the seam. Continue in this manner to the end of rip, then tack thread securely and draw end of thread back under stitches.
