Household Repairs Cracks in wood. Clean out dust and cobwebs with a vacuum cleaner. Stain plastic wood to match beam and press into crack. If beam is painted, use plastic wood as it comes from the can, and repaint after 12 hours.

Shrunken away from ceiling or wall. Clean out crack with a vacuum cleaner, then fill with spackle. Sand smooth when dry and refinish.
