Household Repairs Small holes. Clean metal with steel wool and fill hole from both sides with plastic aluminum.

Large holes, tears. Steel-wool metal on the inside and reshape it if it is bent or distorted. Cut a patch out of heavy aluminum flashing, hold over hole, and drill a series of small holes around the edges through both pieces of metal. Then coat underside of patch heavily with plastic aluminum and rivet it over hole with aluminum rivets driven from the outside. Make sure that plastic fills rivet holes. When plastic has dried, smooth off rough edges and spots with a file.
