Household Repairs Corroded. Leave corroded screws in the hull. Drill beside them and put in new screws of Everdur or Monel. Replace bolts with new Everdur or Monel bolts. Above deck, fastenings can be removed and replaced with brass fastenings, although Everdur and Monel are far preferable on salt water.

In steel and aluminum boats use steel and aluminum fastenings respectively.

Replace corroded fittings—preferably with Everdur or Monel.

If bolt holes are slightly enlarged but wood is sound, flow in Elmer's waterproof glue. To prevent bolts from pulling all the way through fiberglass, install large washers or plates under the nuts.
