Holes in plywood. Brace on the inside with a piece of exterior-grade plywood that is secured to the hull with Elmer's waterproof glue and brass or bronze screws. Then clean paint out of hole on the outside. Prime with new paint. When dry, fill with a plywood patch, or trowel in cement or glazing compound (marine grade). Sand smooth when dry and apply finish paint.
If plywood is also so badly dented that it bulges inward, drill a hole through center of dent and run a bolt through it and through blocks of wood on both sides. Draw up tight for 24 hours or longer. Then patch as above.
Another way to repair a hole is to cut away the splintered edges with a saw. With a disc sander, feather back the edges of the hole on the inside of the hull for about 3". Then fill hole with fiberglass mat (see boat, molded fiberglass).
