Household Repairs Rod sags. Replace with a new one. Or twist a strong wire around the center of the rod and attach to a screw eye in the ceiling.

Rod loose. Drill a small hole diagonally through the end and nail rod to the wall with a long finishing nail.

Shelf sags. Nail a wood cleat to the wall under the middle of the shelf. The cleat should be long enough to be nailed into at least two studs. If shelf not only sags but is also warped, support it on a large angle iron screwed to the wall or on a right-angled metal shelf support.
