Household Repairs Leather belt delaminated. Spread a thin coat of Pliobond cement on both surfaces. Let dry. Apply a second coat to one surface and press layers together.

Belt loop worn, broken. Remove from belt and open material to its full size. Use as a pattern for a new loop.

On most men's belts, buckle and belt loop are held in place by metal snaps. Open these. Stitch new loop closed (so it is a complete loop). Slip over end of belt and close snaps.

On women's belts, buckle and belt loop are not usually removable. In this case, before closing the loop, slip one end of the loop material through fold of belt behind buckle and bring it around in front. Dab Pliobond cement on ends of loop and squeeze ends together. While glue is still wet, stitch ends of loop with thread. When glue is dry, twist stitched ends around under belt.

Tongue of belt buckle on wrong side of buckle. If buckle can be removed from belt, remove it and swing tongue around to top of buckle. Otherwise, with pliers, bend tongue until it can be forced back through buckle; then straighten tongue. To protect finish on tongue wrap it with adhesive tape.
