Light material worn thin. Turn wrong side out. Hold a sheet of white cardboard or paper underneath to determine size of reinforcement needed. Cut a patch out of lightweight material that has some give and that is approximately the same color as material to be mended. Place reinforcement on wrong side of material and pin and baste in place. With thread of proper color, make straight rows of stitches lengthwise of fabric and about 1" apart. Make stitches on right side of material so small as to be invisible; on the wrong side, up to 1" long. Do not draw up each row of stitches; leave them slightly loose.
