Metal hook or eye off. Position on fabric. Then attach with overcasting stitches.
Thread eye broken. Snip out old eye. Knot a doubled thread at the end. Start with one or two overcasting stitches on wrong side of material. Then bring needle through to right side of material and form a loop of the proper size. Secure in material and make a second loop of the same size. Then whip the four strands of the loop together with a blanket stitch.
