Household Repairs Runs. To stop a run, dab clear nail polish at top and bottom and extend it three or four strands to either side of run.

To mend a run, if appearance is not important, simply whip together the threads on each side of run. If appearance is important, pick up the tree loop at the bottom of the run with a crochet hook. Then pull through the loop, one after the other, each of the threads in the run. Secure the top loop on the wrong side with needle and thread.

Crosswise splits. Place edges of material together and whip with matching thread.

Holes. Use a long length of matching yarn. Catch it in the material at the bottom right corner of the hole, then weave it through the loops across the bottom of the hole to the left side of the hole. Reverse thread and catch it in loop in next row at right of hole. Reverse again to left, then to right until entire hole is covered. Then, starting at a top corner of the hole, make a series of chain stitches down across the hole. When you reach the bottom, thread the yarn straight back up through the first crosswise stitches to the top of the hole. Then make the next series of chain stitches down. Continue in this way until hole is closed.
