Household Repairs For how to use concrete, see Basic Methods: How to Mix and Handle Concrete.

Cracks. Chip open as deeply as possible with a cold chisel. Blow out crumbs with vacuum cleaner. Wet the edges with clear water. Fill with mortar—usually 1 part cement to 2 parts sand mixed with just enough water to make a mixture that holds together when squeezed. Be sure that mortar is packed in solidly. Trowel smooth.

Holes. Break out all loose and broken concrete. Then handle as above. If hole is very large, use a mortar of 1 part cement, 1 part sand and 18 parts coarse aggreate. When this is placed in the ole, work it well in order to fill voids around the aggregate. Trowel off smooth a fraction of an inch above the surrounding surface. Keep covered with damp burlap for 48 hours or longer.

Surface pitted, rough, uneven. Clean thoroughly and wash with water. Let dry. Spread on latex cement and trowel smooth. If surface has deep depressions, cement must be built up in 1" layers. Allow each to dry before applying the next.

Thin sections of ornamental concrete broken (as in a bird bath or jardiniere). Clean broken edges thoroughly. Let dry several days. Apply Miracle Adhesive to one edge and press other into this firmly. Clamp if necessary. Let dry for 48 hours.
