Household Repairs Head loose from handle. Remove handle and clean dirt from end and from the hole in the head.

Let wood dry completely if damp. Spread Elmer's waterproof glue in the hole and on end of handle. Tap together and let dry for 24 hours.

Handle broken. If the break parallels the grain, coat both surfaces with Elmer's waterproof glue and clamp together with C-clamps or by overwrapping with wax paper and string. If break is across grain, make a new handle out of a broomstick.
