Knife blade loose in handle. Remove blade and clean tang with fine emery cloth. Apply epoxy glue and reset in handle.
If hole in handle is much larger than the tang of the blade, take knife to a jeweler for repair. Hollow-handled knives are filled with a white cement which occasionally erodes and needs to be replaced entirely if blade is to hold tight.
Fork tines bent. Wrap with paper or cloth and bend them straight with pliers.
Tips of silver spoons bent. You can usually straighten these with your fingers, but don't try anything more violent.
Ceramic or bone handle broken. Apply Duco cement to both edges and clamp together for six hours.
