Note. Some doll repairs are very easy, others quite difficult. Before attempting to fix a broken head or a torn body it is well to find out— if you can—what material you are dealing with. This can save you time in selecting the right glue and/ or patching material. But don't worry too much if the answer escapes you. If the first things you try don't work, you can always try something else.

If the doll has pulled apart, the first thing to determine is how it was put together. Then, can you get inside the body to fix it? And do you have the materials you need?

Finally, before mending a doll, decide how much you value it. If it is just an ordinary doll and repairs seem relatively easy, go ahead and make them. But if repairs look difficult for one reason or another or if doll is an antique with real or sentimental value, then it is better to take it to a doll hospital.

Head, limbs, body made of solid material broken. Coat broken edges lightly with Duco cement and let dry. Then apply a second coat and press pieces together. If the broken part is known to be made of a modem plastic (other than polyethylene), use plastic-mending adhesive instead of Duco.
