Household Repairs Works stiffly. Remove cover plates from both sides of hinge at bottom of door. Clean dust, lint, etc. from mechanism. Squirt powdered graphite into pivot and spring. Work door back and forth.

Strikes jamb. Check whether hinge and pivot at top of door can be moved closer to the hinge jamb. If they can't be, the swinging edge of door will have to be planed down slightly. You can do this if you have a good plane and are a good workman; but it may be better to call in a carpenter. Planing a door edge evenly is not easy.
