Household Repairs Holes, cracks. Cut out loose material down to a solid base. Make sides of hole straight up and down. Wash with water and allow to dry. Then pack in patching asphalt, sold in small packages for repair work, and tamp hard.

Edges broken. Cut out loose material, wash with water, and allow to dry. Lay a board along the edge and stake in place. Pack patching asphalt between driveway and board. Remove board before asphalt dries. Note: Installation of steel edging strips will prevent recurrence of this problem.

Heaved by frost. Cut out heaved area, level the base. Then fill as above.
