Water leaks through wall. If walls become slightly damp on the inside during prolonged wet weather and the problem is not attributable to cracks, the entire wall needs to be waterproofed. Use either a transparent, colorless silicone waterproofing compound or cement paint. To apply former, clean walls, remove old oil paint and whitewash but not cement paint. Let walls dry. Then brush or spray on silicone. Use two coats on very porous surfaces.
To apply cement paint, remove old oil paint and clean wall thoroughly. With a scrubbing brush apply first coat of paint mixed according to manufacturer's directions. Work it well into pores. Let dry for several hours, then fog wall with clear water several times during next 24 hours. Apply a second coat of paint on damp surface. After it has set, keep damp for 48 hours.
