Household Repairs Cracks. Cut open with a chisel so they are wider in back than on the surface. Blow out crumbs with vacuum cleaner and wet with water. Fill with mortar made of 1 part cement, 3 parts sand and 1/10th part hydrated lime. Keep damp for several days by misting with water.

Loose, broken, bulging. Remove all defective stucco. If wire lath is rusted, cut it out and nail in a new piece. Wet edges of surrounding stucco with water before applying each of three new coats of stucco.

All coats are made of 1 part cement, 3 parts sand, and 1/10th part hydrated lime. Trowel first coat on to lath and scratch the surface so that next coat will adhere. After stucco has set up, keep it damp for 48 hours; then let dry. Then sprinkle with water and trowel on second coat in the same way. After sprinkling and allowing to dry, apply third coat and trowel off to match old stucco.
