Household Repairs Small holes, tears. Clean thoroughly with steel wool. Cover with plastic steel. Prime with rust-inhibiting paint and apply finish paint.

Large holes, tears. Cut a patch out of galvanized steel. Steel-wool one side of patch and metal around hole. Spread on plastic steel and weight down patch. Prime and paint.
