Household Repairs Small holes. Grate a waste scrap of linoleum and mix with clear lacquer to form a thick paste. Spread in hole immediately. Sand smooth when dry.

Large holes. If in tiles, replace tiles. If in sheet linoleum, lay a scrap piece of matching linoleum over the hole, hold tight and with a very sharp knife cut through both layers at once. Then dig out old linoleum, scrape out adhesive and apply new linoleum paste. Set in patch and weight down.

Cuts, tears. Lift edges and spread linoleum paste underneath. Use a spatula or thin knife, or squirt paste from a clean oil can. Weight down.

Bulges. Make small cut through bulge, spread linoleum paste underneath and weight down.

Cracks between tiles. See floor, vinyl.

Tile damaged. See floor, vinyl. Use linoleum paste to glue new tile down. Note that if linoleum is laid over concrete laid on grade or below grade, the salts in the concrete will soon destroy it. Tear it all up and use flooring designed for on-grade and below-grade installation, such as asphalt tile and some vinyls.
