Household Repairs Wood top damaged. See furniture—table.

Veneered top damaged. See veneer.

Felt top torn. Remove felt and scrape and sand wood base clean. Cut new felt top to fit. Apply Elmer's Glue-All to wood and smooth felt into this. Trim edges as necessary with a razor blade.

Leather top torn. If tear is not obvious when leather is pressed down, simply spread Elmer's Glue-All under torn edges and weight down. If damage is severe, replace top as you would a felt top.

Lucite top cracked. See plastics—general.

Linoleum top damaged. See linoleum.

Burn in leather top. Carefully scrape out charred particles. If the scar is not too deep, you can pretty well conceal it with leather polish. If burn goes through leather, however, lay a scrap of matching leather over the hole; hold tight, and cut through both layers at once with a razor blade. Make a round or oval hole if possible. Apply Pliobond cement to back of patch and to base. Let dry until tacky and then stick down patch. Polish well and often.
