Household Repairs Rushes broken, frayed. Buy chairmaker's rush to match. Cut old broken rushes off cleanly— preferably under the chair. Cut new rush strips long enough to fill in the breaks and add about 4". Flatten the ends of the old and new rushes. Glue new strips to old with Elmer's Glue-All.
