Hole in metal. Scrub with soap and water and clean with steel wool. Cover hole with plastic steel.

Metal bottom rusting. Scrub clean and sand as smooth as possible. Paint with asphalt roofing cement. Let dry thoroughly before using. This is a good precaution to take with any new metal garbage can.

Hole in rubber. Scrub with soap and water and roughen surface with sandpaper. Cover hole with plastic rubber. If hole is large, set a patch of rubber in the plastic rubber.
