Household Repairs Doesn't heat. Proceed as follows until you find problem:

1. Check whether fuse on house circuit has blown.

2. Check whether outlet is defective. Just plug in a light.

3. Disconnect and check whether heater cord is broken and if so, replace it.

4. Disassemble heater (each one is put together differently but the manner in which they come apart is usually obvious). Tighten wires at terminals.

5. If heater still doesn't work, element has burned out. Some of these unscrew like a light bulb and are easily replaced. If heater is equipped with another type, take it to a service shop for repair.
