Joints open. If joints open and close as weather changes, you can tack batten strips over them. The strips should be attached only on one side of the joints. If the joints are permanently open, you can apply batten strips or have a carpenter fill the joints with narrow wood strips set flush with the surface. Note, however, that any such treatment may end up in a wall that is worse looking than the one you have now.
