Household Repairs Note. Always disconnect lamp before making repairs.

Cord broken. If socket is mounted on top of a straight stem, unscrew socket from stem, pull it apart, loosen screws holding wires and pull cord out through bottom. Run new cord up through base and stem and attach to socket (see electric cord — lamp cord broken at socket).

If socket is mounted on an arm attached to the stem, unscrew wires from socket as above. Then unscrew nut in base of lamp and pull out cord. The various pieces of which the lamp is made will now either fall apart or you can unscrew them. This will make it possible for you to thread new cord into arm on which socket is mounted. After cord is in, reassemble pieces and tighten them together. Then install socket.

Socket broken. Simply unscrew it from lamp and install new one. See lamp socket. Also see electric cord (lamp cord broken at socket).

Table lamp loose at joints. Remove felt (if any) from base. Tighten nut on the spindle that holds parts of lamp together.
