Holes. Repair with cotton twine. In a square-meshed net, first tie new lengths of twine to the broken cords (or knots) along the top of the hole. Call these Strings 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Then tie a length of twine to the topmost broken string at the left side of the hole. Call this String A. Now draw String A to the right to meet String 1; form desired mesh opening, and tie strings together with a square knot. Then draw String A to String 2 and knot, and so on across the hole. Repeat process with horizontal strings B, C, D, etc. until hole is filled. The procedure is the same in a net with a diamond-shaped mesh except that all strings run diagonally downward.
Professionals use a special net knot instead of a square knot, but this is more difficult for the amateur to make.
