Paint chipped, flaking, peeling, etc. Remove paint down to the base. Make sure surface is dry. Apply new paint. Use same type for all coats.

Taint deeply scratched. Sand to remove any loose paint. Fill scratch with spackle and sand smooth when dry. Apply new paint.

Exterior paint blistered. Remove it down to the wood. Be sure surface is absolutely dry before applying new paint. Don't paint at all if blistering is a common occurrence, because you may have a condensation problem within the walls, and until this is rectified, blistering will continue.

Faint on metal chipped, scratched. Wash with detergent or ammonia solution. Sand defect with very fine sandpaper. Be sure to remove any rust. Fog on spray enamel recommended for use on metal in several thin coats.

Taint peeling off galvanized iron. Scrape off loose paint and sand well. Wash metal with detergent solution and then rinse with clear water. Brush on zinc-dust paint.

Paint surface stained by knots that bleed. Paint over stained areas with a phenolic and vinyl primer, aluminum paint or shellac. Then apply finish paint.
