Plastic surface loose from wood base. Scrape out old adhesive as much as possible. Make sure surfaces are dry. With a spatula spread waterproof counter-top adhesive (but not contact cement) in crack according to manufacturer's directions. Then clamp or weight plastic in place. If plastic is under tension at a nearby point—for example, if a faucet escutcheon is bearing on it —release tension before clamping plastic.
Holes, deep burns. First secure a scrap of matching material. Draw a rectangular outline around the defect. Then with a very sharp chisel, cut out along the outline. Do not hammer chisel too hard. Hold chisel so that beveled side of blade faces the damage. Heat damaged piece with a torch to loosen adhesive, then pry piece loose. Clean the base smooth. Out of the scrap material, cut a piece to fit hole. Use a fine-toothed saw and cut piece slightly larger than necessary, then trim to size with a file. Spread waterproof counter-top adhesive (not contact cement) on base. Set in patch and roll down. To fill cracks around patch, heat a small spatula or knife in an alcohol flame, hold it against stick shellac of proper color and drip shellac into cracks. Scratch off excess with a sharp knife.
