Household Repairs Wont play. If battery operated, you probably need new batteries. Otherwise, take tubes to radio shop and have them tested. Replace any that are gone. If radio is still silent, let the shop take over.

Tuning knobs loose. Remove knob. Coat hole in knob and end of spindle to which it is attached with rubber cement and press together. This, unfortunately, is not a very good repair and the knob will loosen up again. But if you use glue that will really hold, it may be difficult to take the radio apart if it ever needs repairs.

Plastic case cracked. Clean edges of crack and coat with plastic-mending adhesive. Bind case together for 24 hours.
