Bamboo tines loose—too far apart or too close together. The tines are held between two bamboo strips bolted to the bottom end of the handle and by laced wire about 6" further down. Remove lower wire and position the tines properly. Wrap wire tightly around one end of the bamboo cross brace. Then lace it tightly between the tines and around the brace to the other end of the brace. Tighten at this point and lace back through the tines to the starting point. Now take a long length of wire and bend it in half around the tine at one side of the rake 4" to 6" below the cross brace. Loop it around the tine and twist together three or four times. Then loop it around the next tine and twist together; and so on to the opposite side of the rake. The wire should form an arc more or less paralleling the arc formed by the ends of the tines.
Bamboo tine missing. If it is not broken, set it back in place in the rake and lace to the bamboo cross brace with wire. Also wire it to the other tines where they come together at the handle. If the missing tine is broken, either leave the rake alone or, if you wish, reposition the other tines to reduce the gap left by the tine.
