Note. Call a serviceman if range doesn't work properly, but before doing so check and correct points noted below.
Doesn't heat, lights off. Check: Has fuse in bottom compartment (or wherever it is located on your particular make) blown? Have fuses blown at fuse box?
Single surface unit doesn't heat. Make sure switch is off. Raise unit, remove reflector and check whether wires are connected to terminals or whether one or more of them is broken. Reconnect wires. If unit still doesn't heat, it is probably burned out.
Oven units don't work. Check whether element is pushed firmly into outlet. If unit doesn't heat, remove it and clean terminals and try in outlet again. If it still doesn't work, unit is probably burned out.
Oven food too light or too dark on top or bottom. The problem is probably with the utensil you are using and where you place it in oven. Check range instruction book.
Oven walls and bottom encrusted with spillages. Turn oven on for a few minutes, then turn off. Pour straight household ammonia into a pan and set in oven overnight. Wash walls and bottom clean in the morning with water. Dry thoroughly. Wipe or spray on silicone preparation made to prevent food sticking.
