Note. Call a serviceman if machine doesn't work properly, but before doing so check and correct points noted below.
Doesn't work. Check: Has temperature control dial been turned off? Is refrigerator plugged in? Has fuse blown? On a gas refrigerator, is pilot light out? Relight according to directions on tag attached to refrigerator.
Heats up. Provide more air circulation at sides and especially at top if refrigerator exhausts heat from the back. If you have a modern front-exhaust box, call a serviceman.
Seems to labor. Clean out dust, cobwebs from operating mechanism with a vacuum cleaner hose. Clean filter on gas refrigerator.
Plastic parts broken. Clean with soap and water and rinse. When dry, coat broken edges with plastic-mending adhesive. Clamp together for 24 hours. If break needs to be reinforced, cover it with plastic patching material that comes with plastic-mending adhesive kit.
Ice cube release broken. Buy a new tray.
Door doesn't seal. Wash gasket with soap and water. If this doesn't help, call a serviceman to check a magnetic-door gasket. In refrigerators with conventional latches, loosen the strike plate and move it into the box a fraction of an inch so that it pulls latch and door tight shut.
