Household Repairs Small holes. Dab on asphalt roofing cement.

Large holes. Open the seam between pieces of asphalt roll below the hole and slip up through it a new piece of roll roofing large enough to extend 6" beyond all sides of the hole. When it is in place, spread asphalt roofing cement under and around the edges of the hole. Press down torn roofing and close opening in seam below the hole.

Leaks in seams. If leaks are not stopped by applying asphalt roofing cement to them, coat the seam thoroughly with cement and then embed in it a 6" strip of 35-lb., smooth-surfaced, asphalt roll roofing. After the cement has set for two hours, paint the strip with asphalt roof coating (a non-fibrous asphalt cement).
