Deep scratches. Apply several coats of new shellac with a fine brush. Then rub lightly with alcohol to smooth out surface.

Shellac gummy. Remove with denatured alcohol. In future, don't use shellac that is more than six months old.

Alcohol spots on shellac. Alcohol dissolves shellac, so mop it up quickly. Then rub with rottenstone and a cloth dipped in salad oil or sewing-machine oil. Remove residue with benzine.
